I'm made it past 50! married for over half my life, have 3 kids all grown and I'm loving this part of my life.I was a nurse in my younger days but an unhealthy dose of rheumatoid arthritis put a damper on my career,so I'm at home with the internet.
I have money to burn...apparently Arrrgh I paid $33 to have the inspection for car registration done when I didn't need to. I didn't notice the NO in NO INSPECTION REQUIRED on the registration renewal...sigh... Nice of the mechanic not to notice aswell, he had to use the information on the renewal to fill in the pink slip. I pay 6 monthly,so I must have had one done last time.
The afternoon was spent turning on and off the electricity. Husband is renovating our bathroom and we had to put a piece of fibro up on the wall and slip it behind some electrical conduit and move a light fitting at the same time. It didn't sit right so I gave it a shove.think I broke a wire because now the light he was trying to reseat won't work and the fan/heater/light that was installed last week won't work either. So the electrician is coming tomorrow afternoon to fix it. Before we setteled on the electrician though ,I was in an endless procession back and forth to the metre box to turn it on...off...on....off....on...nope nothing....on....off....still nothing....
It reminds me of when I was a child ,we had an old tv aerial on the roof and this black plastic ticker tape looking wire wound around the verandah pole and across the wall of the house and in through the window to the TV. Dad would be up on the roof, moving the aerial and us kids would be in the loungeroom shouting up ..yeees,nooo,yeees, noo,there...you had it, no go back.yeah thats it...ahhh nooo,at the same time Dad's shouting, is that it? tell me when its right...is that it now? Eventually he would come down and bang the tv a couple of times, try moving the actual tv, and tape the aerial wire to the wall behind it when it was the least fuzzy.
F50's hubby over at fortifying your 50's tagged me in this meme. You should take a look at their blog.it's F50's blog but hubby has been doing some writing and the both of them are really funny and interesting.
I quite like these taggy things as you know,so here goes.
Do you think you're hot?
Not sure I understand the question.....
pffft no, infact I'm freezing, it's zero celcius right now at 9.30am,and I'm tucked up under the doonas ,electric blanket on with my laptop.(its saturday morning and I don't need to be anywhere)Fingers and face are like ice brrrr
Upload a picture or wall paper that you are using at the moment.
someone... is always asking what time is it?
When was the last time you ate chicken?
wednesday night,Gemma and Aaron brought over some KFC for Les for his birthday. The state of origin rugby league was on,so the kids were treated to Les doing a lot of shouting at the tv.I'm not sure Aaron was game to barrack much.....Aaron went for the maroons while Les is a blues supporter.........round 2 is 2 weeks awy, if I can find an old vcr to tune in to the projector they can watch it on the big screen .
The song/songs you listened to recently
Bride/Groom wedding dance songs and father/daughter dance songs. So many of them are so soppy. They had chosen Unchained Melody, but have now gone with Jerry and the Pacemakers, You'll Never Walk Alone. Ohh the father daughter ones are either so soppy about angels , some are almost incestuous, she was mine first and some of them are pass the bucket stuff! We wanted something sentimental but not sickening. We've chosen, the Temptations,My Girl and making it fun.
\in between starting writing this and finishing it, I woke up with this song in my head this morning.I haven't heard it for ....years, and now it's stuck in my head.
What were you thinking while doing this?
what time is it,i have to go to the butchers and the chemist before the close at 12. i still have 2 hours and its only 3 minutes away.
Do you have any nicknames? What are they?
When I was a kid I wanted a real nicknaame, something cool, like a friend who was nicknamed Sandy or Bobby when it had nothing to do with their names. I got shortened to Bernie urgh,or worse Cinders( my surname was Cincotta, back then) Bobby would have been better than Bernie, but no one would use it.How did those girls in the 40's do it? You know the Marjories that became Bobbies or changed to their middle names because they liked them better?
In highschool two of my friends called me Dette, and now I've found them many years later ,one of them has remembered and I'm Dette again. I also get called Bee ,friends in Qld couldn't spell it writing it down and shortened it to Bee...where were they in primary school ???

The lovely Lyndylou over at The Giggle Fest sent me this award. It's a nice one, I think, as part of the rules are I get to pass to you some great blogs you might not have seen before .It's always so hard to choose, as everyone on my blog roll is worth reading,so I'll try to give you some that aren't already in the "circle".
Thanks heaps Lyndy for the award,I love these things.
Lyndylou's blog is great fun, she has a full on busy life, with a disabled child and a teen and writes with honesty and humour. I try never to miss a post. And she's in Scotland, so I read it with a Scottish accent. So if you haven't read her already go take a look, guarantee you'll be there a while.
a little sprite Her little corner of the blog is always a good read, mostly about whats happening in her life, but she can pop up with anything really.Lovely and helpful girl from the warmer bit of Australia.
Pat over at A view from the edge had a lovely blog. It's an entertaining blog of her travels across the USA in an RV with her hubby. The photos are great, with interesting architecture and unusual places they've visited. Definatly NOT like slide night with Uncle Fred! I'm always looking forward to the next installment.
Ami over at Ami.Mental was one of my first few followers ,always funny or caring comments and her blog is fun. Even when she writes about the crappy stuff that happens to her, she's funny. She is so good with kids ,she "gets" them. .....And they make for funny stories.
manders at I have a web page whoopdedoo is a great read .I haven't been there long ,so I'm dipping in and out of her old posts too. Her style is chatty and freewriting and fun.I enjoy reading what she writes. She only has 24 followers, beats me why.

I know, this has probably happened to you. You’re doing your shopping, about to pick up your usual loo paper . Out of the corner of your eye, you see what looks like a new loo paper the shelf . You suddenly can’t decide between the two..... twenty minutes later , you’re still... standing there, deciding between them.....
So you read the fine print, it helps.....

I think advertising/marketing gurus are really highschool kids, you know the ones, that can run with anything and make it funny for the next hour. And its been the same kids ...for years...
And its now cold, brrr cold.As I sit among my doona's with the electric blanket on it is below zero celcius .. -2 actually (28 for the ppl across the pond) and will be -4 in the morning. Today was about the same. I went out about 9 am to pick some parsley, crunched my way across the white grass, passed the water feature bowl that was covered in a layer of ice,to find the parsley frozen,oh well easier to chop.
I had both the open fire and the fuel stove going all day today, and we still had cardigans on inside. It's a large area to try and heat now that we've pulled all the walls out and made one big L shaped room.
It did turn out a lovely day outside in the sun though, which was a "phew' moment' ,as Chloe &Jess and her parents and Gemma & Aaron were all over for a BBQ lunch. It felt like Christmas, mainly because for the past 6 years we've been here we haven't had the opportunity to entertain, except at Christmas,so it was lovely to cook for people and have the house full as its been so quiet.
I've been bringing the birds inside in a canary cage every night as one of them started to get a cold. they sleep in my room, and talk in their sleep. I though one fell off the perch last night, it let out a screech, then whistled a bit and went back to sleep.
We also took a trip down to Wagga Wagga to see the young recruit, first time we've seen him in over a month. We agreed to meet him at McDonalds. We knew we were on the right track when we saw all these shaved headed young men in their dress pants and shiny shoes! I didn't recognise Danny at first ,he's got no hair, it makes him look so different, plus he's lost weight so looks overall smaller. I drove an hour and a half to get there, and we probably got an hour with him.Had something to eat, maccas of course , all the young people seemed to miss maccas during their stay on barracks, and then to help him pick a suit.He has to have one for the War Memorial visit. He has expensive taste and picked a lovely grey suit which was half price at $200. But....... then had to have a shirt, tie, and decided to buy shoes to match...... $320 later..... He hasn't actually been paid, he borrowed money from a mate, thank goodness,as we had no more to lend him, we're waiting for him to be paid,so he can pay us back our electricity bill fund....
He had the idea of him and a mate writing to each others mums,so I have a long letter from his mate and his mum has one from Danny. And we have to write back.
Remember in my last post the photo of "American Gothic"? I posted it to him to remind him of us,he thought it was funny, it's up on his wall.
hmm this isn't much for a 2 week hiatus, but it's all I got .....
